James Bickerstaff
I'm currently a 3rd year PhD candidate working on the Australian ambrosia beetles, Platypodinae and Scolytinae, and their coevolved mutualistic fungi. I'm broadly interested in using these organisms as models for coevolution and biogeography, population genomics, and microbial community ecology. I have a strong interest in using molecular techniques to explore evolutionary and ecological questions, and am also working toward resolving systematic and taxonomic issues in these subfamilies as well as discovering new species. I also have experience in building electronic identification/taxonomic keys and wish to explore this further to facilitate the dissemination of insect identification to the greater public.
